The youngest cracked me up again last night. I asked him to sweep up the popcorn that he'd dropped under the bar in our kitchen. This is what followed:
LK: I cannot sweep that up.
AFRo: Then you shouldn't have made such a big mess. Go get the broom, you're sweeping it up.
LK: I am not a grown up mom. If I was, I'd be laying on the couch watching football not sweeping the kitchen.
Again, I was speechless. I wonder where he got the idea that grown ups lay on the couch and watch football? But, for the record, he did get the hand held and vacuumed the popcorn up after I put my "meany face" on.
ETA: Because I'm a grammar freak and I never got the lay, lie, etc. thing... did I do the laying on the couch correctly?

I could be wrong but I think it's lying on the couch - chickens lay, people lie LOL :)
Glad he did clean up the mess though!
LOL! I hav eno idea about the laying and lying thing, and I, too, am a grammar freak. Go figure!
What a hoot! At this rate LK is going to need his own blog :)
Kids are just too funny.
Now you have me second guessing myself. I think you got it right. Lying is the verb for lie right? Laying would be the verb lay? Oh gosh I don't know.
You lay something down on the table, you lie down for a rest. How do I know this? Well, a couple of years ago I asked my genius friend who is an English teacher.
Simplydar beat me to it. That sounds like something my son would say about me since daddy goes to work and I don't. ;^)
Hehe... I have to put on my "meany face" a lot.
Can you teach me the 'meany face'! When I ask the kids to do something they run away laughing at me.
I REALLY need that face!
well he could be lying on the couch laying eggs.
Totally blog-worthy, no?
"meany face" lol ~ glad it worked ;)
i'm pretty sure it's "lying" on the couch. but if it was past tense it would be "laid" because grammar is confusing like that.
haha also, when i use my "meanie face" jake just imitates it until i laugh. little jerk ;-)
THIS is priceless.
